Wedding couple in woodland

Wedding  ·  Lake District

We were both convinced we'd be awkward in front of the camera. We weren't. Within about ten minutes we'd completely forgotten anyone was there — and the images show that. They look like us, on one of the best days of our lives.

We got married on a Friday in October with 22 guests in a barn near Ambleside. The rain started at 4pm and we ended up with the most atmospheric images of the day. Nothing went to plan and everything was perfect.

Portrait session in golden light

Portrait Session  ·  Sheffield

I'd never had professional photos taken before and honestly dreaded it. I kept thinking I'd look stiff or fake. The images I got back made me cry. I looked like myself, just better lit.

We met at Forge Dam in Sheffield on a Tuesday evening in September. The session lasted about 90 minutes. Priya wanted images for a career change — headshots and lifestyle portraits for her new coaching business. She arrived nervous and left laughing.

Elopement in Scottish Highlands

Elopement  ·  Scottish Highlands

We'd been planning to elope for two years and kept bottling it. Eventually we just booked it. Three days in Skye, a ceremony on a cliff above the sea, and photographs I will look at for the rest of my life.

Jess and Marcus drove up from Manchester. The morning of their ceremony, the Quiraing was covered in low cloud. They nearly called it off. They didn't. The images from that morning are some of the best I've ever made.

Commercial brand photography

Commercial  ·  Brand Day

I've worked with photographers before who made the whole process feel very transactional. This was completely different. The images have warmth and personality. My clients keep commenting on them.

Clara runs a small sustainable ceramics studio in Hebden Bridge. She needed brand images for a website refresh and new product lines. We spent half a day in her studio and half outdoors. She wanted images that showed the process, not just the product.

We looked at the gallery and kept saying — that's actually us. That's what it felt like. I didn't know photography could do that.
